Christ the King Lutheran Church
2006-2007 Sunday School Year
Start time is 9:30
Dismissal is 10:30
- Children Nursery age through first grade need to be picked up in their rooms by a parent or a fifth grade or above sibling. This is very IMPORTANT. We ask this to safe guard your children.
Singing
- Singing for Nursery through First grade will be from 9:30 until 9:50. Parents should bring their child/children directly into the church for singing. The teachers will have "animal" signs for Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten so they can easily find their teachers. Teachers for Kindergarten through First grade will have "day of creation" signs so they can easily be found. Teachers will try to sit in the same spot each week.
- Singing for Second through Fifth grades will be at 10:15 until 10:30 in the mission hall.
- Singing to the congregation for all ages will be the second Sunday of each month at the second service in October, November, February, March and May. There will be no singing December, January and April due to the holidays.
Attendance Awards
- A certificate of attendance and a special award will be given to those with 100% attendance at the end of the year.
- A certificate of attendance and an award will be given to those with 90% attendance at the end of the year.
- A bulletin or a Sunday School visitor card are the only two acceptable ways of marking a child present.
Bibles
- All children starting nursery receive the "Read with Me Bible", the New International Readers Version.
- All children starting second grade receive the "The Holy Bible", the New International Readers Version "Kids Quest Study Bible".
- On Bible Sunday (usually Rally Sunday) Bibles are handed out to both age groups at services so they can be used on the first Sunday in Sunday School.
- We would like to stress that the kids bring their Bibles to Sunday School every Sunday.
- If you are not here to receive your Bible on Sunday morning please give the Parish Education office a call 587-2776 so we may get a Bible to you.
Offering
- Offering envelopes will be given to all children. Envelopes have always been a big hit for children. They see parents put their envelopes in the offering at church and it is fun for them to place their offering envelope in Sunday School. Notice the trivia on the envelopes.
- The first, third and fourth Sundays offering goes into the general fund, second Sunday offering will go to missions.
Missions
- Our church sponsors John and Joy Friberg. Include them in your prayers.
- If you wish to write to John and Joy this is their address.
Memory Work
- Memory work is an important part of Sunday School. Learning Luther's Small Catechism enables the kids to be familiar with it by the time they get to confirmation and it is part of our Lutheran heritage.
- Memory work sheets for Nursery and Pre-K will be sent home with parents and it will be up to them to work with their child to learn the memory work.
- Parents if you could fill out and sign the attached form once your child has completed the memory work and send it with them to give to the teacher or drop it in the Parish Ed. drop box on the Parish Ed. table in front of the library. We do give each child who turns in their memory slip a little treat and token for their efforts.
